~Pinewood Derby!~

Last night Kaiden had his first pinewood derby! He has been excited for this derby ever since he found out that when he goes to scouts he gets to do it. He had been thinking about his car for quite a while and had gone back and forth trying to decided what car he wanted to build. He finally decided that he wanted a Dukes of Hazzard "General Lee" car. (Eric has been in a Dukes of Hazzard rut for a while and it is on almost every night)

Oh man was Kaiden excited to get his car built! Him and Eric cut it out and then Kaiden sanded it FOREVER!! He could not have any bumps or rough spots that would slow it down. Then he got it all painted up! It was pretty funny because the orange paint looked kind of pink before we got the top coat on it. He was so worried that it was going to be a pink car. (TOO CUTE)

The day finally came and Kaiden instisted on wearing his scout shirt to school so that everyone would know that it was scout day and then he could tell them it was his first Pinewood Derby! He is such a cute kid! Here he is at the race with his car. I mentioned getting the ringtone of the General Lee's horn on my phone and playing it when he raced and he got so excited. And everytime he raced I had to play the horn. I did forget one time and he let me know it! HAHA! He makes me laugh!

It was so fun to see how excited he got about racing. Here is Kaiden, Logan & Ryan (cousin) watching the races. They just could not get close enough!
He ended up taking second place. To say that he was excited would be a huge understatement! He could not believe that he took second. What a fun night!

First Place-Logan (right), Second Place-Kaiden & Third Place-Ryan (left)! All of these boys are Wolves and all brand new to scouts. Kaiden in November, Logan in December and Ryan in January. They beat out all other boys. It was so fun to see how proud they were! They all got little place metal pins and a car holder trophy!
The cubmaster made these super cute drivers licenses and then also had one of the men in our ward come who is a Police Officer and talk to the boys about there responsiblity as drivers of their cars. It was pretty cute! He also made some cookie cutters that look like cars. I helped make some cookies for the refreshments and they turned out really cute!

Here are all of the Cub Scouts with their cars.
And there is already talk about how they are going to make a car even faster next year! I can't wait to see what they come up with!
